Jarrett Fuller, assistant professor of graphic design at North Carolina State University and host of Scratching the Surface (a podcast and a platform for some pretty interesting essays, if I do say so), recently published an essay in Untapped: âUsing Simple Tools as a Radical Act of Independence.â
The irony of recommending this essay on Interface Café, which is hosted on Ghost, a CMS platform, is not lost on me. In the essay, Jarrett talks about how the simple tools of the web (HTML and CSS) allow us to build durable artifacts thanks to their accumulative model of evolution.
Itâs freeing to think about returning to a site I built in Notepad as a more direct expression; one thatâs not only acceptable but more meaningful than posting to a platform.
