New on the Material Blog: a post from Nico Thornley, Brenton Simpson, Julia Feldman, and Michael Gilbert about research the team did to determine how users perceive Material 3 against Material 2.
The research sets an interesting direction for the system, as it uncovers ways the interface can communicate hierarchy, utility, and style to users through changes to color, typographic styles, etc.
I think asking more questions about the ways users experience the interface on a subjective level is crucial to build a future where our systems are more abstract, and account for a broader range of users in their unique contexts.
